Endocrinology healthcare professionals (HCPs) have an essential role in caring for people with metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH), both as the initial point of contact for people with conditions such as type 2 diabetes and obesity—who have a high risk of clinically significant fibrosis—and as key HCPs involved in managing MASLD/MASH. This multi-formatted activity outlines the essential elements of MASLD/MASH diagnosis, risk stratification, management, and referral to specialist care.

The program comprises 3 modules. Learners will watch slide-based video presentations and expert-to-expert discussions and will take part in interactive e-learning activities and quizzes. In addition, learners will sit in the driver’s seat to make decisions on the best approaches to care for an individual with MASLD in a detailed case scenario. Downloadable reference guides summarize key points from the activity.

This activity is intended for endocrinology HCPs, including physicians, physician assistants (PAs), nurse practitioners (NPs), nurses, and other HCPs interested in improving outcomes for individuals with MASLD and MASH.

Upon completion of this activity, the learner will be able to:

  • Apply evidence-based recommendations for MASLD/MASH diagnosis, risk stratification, and referral to specialist care
  • Employ non-invasive tests and biomarkers for optimal assessment and management of MASLD/MASH
  • Implement guideline-recommended strategies for the management of MASLD/MASH, including lifestyle and weight management, early implementation of appropriate pharmacotherapy, ongoing monitoring, and collaboration with specialists where relevant
  • Review evidence supporting the use of currently recommended and emerging pharmacotherapies with proven efficacy in MASH

The Endocrine Society is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. Endocrine Society has achieved Accreditation with Commendation.
