Advanced Hands-on Thyroid Ultrasound Workshop 2019

Designed for practitioners experienced in performing thyroid ultrasonography, the comprehensive workshop will focus on recent advances in diagnosing thyroid nodules and the use of ultrasound in examining cervical lymph nodes and parathyroid adenomas. Real-time ultrasound findings of metastatic lymph nodes and parathyroid adenomas will be demonstrated on patient volunteers.

Target Audience

This program should be of substantial interest to endocrinologists and other healthcare providers involved in the management of thyroid-related disorders.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this educational activity, learners will be able to:

  • Review the technology of ultrasound imaging
  • Recognize the imaging characteristics of thyroid nodules and diffuse thyroid disorders
  • Perform diagnostic thyroid ultrasound imaging and identify normal neck anatomy
  • Perform ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration biopsies using a simulated model​​​​​​s
  • Practice specimen slide preparation and cytology interpretation
