Target Audience
This program should be of substantial interest to endocrinologists and other healthcare providers involved in the management of thyroid-related disorders.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this educational activity, learners will be able to:
- Review the technology of ultrasound imaging
- Recognize the imaging characteristics of thyroid nodules and diffuse thyroid disorders
- Perform diagnostic thyroid ultrasound imaging and identify normal neck anatomy
- Perform ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration biopsies using a simulated model
- Practice specimen slide preparation and cytology interpretation
- Review indications for an ultrasound examination of cervical lymph nodes in thyroid cancer patients
- Demonstrate the imaging procedure and identify characteristics of benign and malignant lymph nodes
- Discuss and illustrate the imaging characteristics of parathyroid adenomas
