In recognition of these statistics and the link between obesity and the endocrine system, the Endocrine Society (ES), the European Society for Endocrinology (ESE) and the International Society for Endocrinology (ISE) joined together to co-sponsor a symposium during the recent 7th International Congress of Endocrinology. The symposium, titled “You might think you know, by why do we actually have an obesity epidemic?” was held on Friday, September 2, 2016 in Beijing, China.
