Introductory Thyroid Ultrasound Workshop 2019

The Introductory Thyroid Ultrasound Workshop is designed to introduce participants to the use of ultrasound in diagnosing thyroid nodules and performing ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspirations. After multiple presentations, participants move to a hands-on session where faculty will guide them through ultrasound techniques on simulated nodules.

Target Audience

This program should be of substantial interest to endocrinologists and other healthcare providers involved in the management of thyroid-related disorders.

    Learning Objectives

    Upon completion of this educational activity, learners will be able to:

    • Review the technology of ultrasound imaging
    • Recognize the imaging characteristics of thyroid nodules and diffuse thyroid disorders
    • Perform diagnostic thyroid ultrasound imaging and identify normal neck anatomy
    • Perform ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration biopsies using a simulated model
    • Practice specimen slide preparation and cytology interpretation
